Telspec required a comprehensive help system for their telecommunication switch which is used by customers such as BT. The help system was produced as a CD-ROM so it could be installed with the switch application and distributed to engineers. The application was then able to access the help files to offer context sensitive help within the application itself.
The site was constructed in HTML within the limitations imposed by using the files within Windows help. This is only the first cycle of this system - current developments include porting this to an extranet so all of Telspec's clients can access this information. This extranet will be content manageable to make the frequent updates required for a product of this nature.
