Background
BT needs no introduction! They offer a wide range of telecomms solutions - in this case, a range of broadband offerings to meet clients' requirements.
Aims
BT Wholesale needed a tool for their representatives and resellers that would enable them to very quickly recommend the best solution for clients, calculating the latest prices from a range of factors. Given the constantly changing nature of the market, this would need to be fast and easily-updatable.
Design
Just because a site doesn't face the general public doesn't mean that the design shouldn't be of the best quality. Here, we needed to ensure that users could quickly and easily find the information they needed, and that those updating this information enjoyed a user-friendly experience.
Features
Our dotEditor-based content management system allows BT staff to quickly and easily add new products as they become available. No web-design knowledge is required for this.
The calculator itself enables their representatives to be able to quickly recommend a connectivity solution and give prices to clients based around their connection requirements. This caters for a myriad of factors: contention ratios, number of users, layer 2 tunnelling protocol and resilience, whilst also providing scalability options by evaluating the solution's current capacity.
The calculator also intelligently decides whether to advise on other packages, based on the input criteria.
Conclusion
Sometimes you can use the web to transform the way you do business, and this is what has happened here. A whole layer of work has been removed from BT staff, leaving them to concentrate on the task at hand.
