Background
WaterAid was founded in 1981 and has been instrumental since in providing water programmes to drought-stricken areas of the world that lack clean water to drink. If you do nothing else today, visit their site and look through what they've achieved - it's a cause we're proud to support.
Aims
WaterAid needs a site that can be kept constantly up to date… but they simply can't spend great amounts of cash on external developers, or in expanding their already hard-pressed IT team. That's why they chose us, and in particular our dotEditor product.
Design
After much initial consultancy, a plan was drawn-up for the site's development, and work began, starting with the look and feel.
The final design was chosen as the best choice for all viewers, bearing in mind that people would be accessing the site from developing countries, possibly with low-specification machines.
The design was to be kept uncluttered and clean, portraying the image of WaterAid and representing their importance in developing programmes that benefit those in developing countries.
Features
dotEditor Corporate, its advanced workflow solution allowing several people across the charity (in various locations) to be responsible for various areas of content.
Form builder plug in, allowing WaterAid to very quickly put together questionnaires and feedback forms for their donors and potential donors.
Our template generator, which enables users to create page templates that can then be used by others across the organisation.
Conclusion
Wateraid's site reflects the effectiveness of the charity and provides people with information in a far better manner than ever before. It saves them money and takes away a heavy burden of work from a stretched IT department.
It's been very well received by both WaterAid and supporters of their organisation and now gives WaterAid the online presence they always wanted.
